hidden was inspired by the seemingly messily-built reed nests that remain hidden till winter when many pond plants die back. Intaglio drypoint with chine colle monoprint on Somerset paper. Open edition of 5 (monoprint colour tones vary).

thin skinned started as a series of photographs of a drying wild flower funeral wreath. The translucency of the delicate Honesty seed heads may appear fragile but they are made of pretty strong stuff. thin skinned seemed an apt representation of my feelings at the time of making.

autumnal responds to the colours and textures of decaying leaves when they crumble underfoot on winter’s arrival in woodlands. This small etching is printed on Somerset paper with a Japanese paper chine colle monoprint.
Varied dition of 5 with monoprint variations within the same earthy colour palette.

swirling snow started life as an image on a Cornish beach formed by a rivulet making it’s way down the beach to the sea. As I drew the image on an etching plate, it became a tree scape and a wintry hillside emerged.

forest was inspired while in Calfiornia, gazing up into the canopy of the giant Sequoia trees. I wanted to capture the scale and density of trees with the bright sunlight trying to reach the ground through the trees.

treetops was the result of a walk through ancient forested mountains in winter. Looking up into the treetops, unable to hear any signs of human life, was magical. Intaglio drypoint print on Somerset paper. Edition of 12.

silver birch was my response to a neighbour’s large silver birch tree swaying on a breezy day. The patterns created by the creaking branches were mesmerizing.
silver birch is a re-inked ghost print of a wiped monotype intaglio printed on Fabriano paper.
The print has been professionally custom glazed and is framed in dark stained oak to match the colour of the print. The piece is sold as framed and is availabe for collection from Bath.
tangled web was inspired by glistening spiders webs in the long grass on a frosty morning. I was taken by the number of breaks in the webs - evidence of early morning battles maybe.
tangled web was featured in the Crickhowell Open Art Show in May 2023 in the Brecon Beacons.

wild hills was inspired by the veins on a pebble found in Kimmeridge bay, which is full of fossils emerging from crumbling cliffs. This print is produced as a drypoint on Somerset paper incorporating chine collé monoprint on Japanese maruishi tissue papers.
